Development & Rehabilitation of Water Schemes

ANE successfully rehabilitated 8 spring protections, construction of 16 hand-dug wells, construction of 47 shallow wells, 3 boreholes, and construction of 4 rainwater catchments. These projects implemented between the 2015 and 2022 budget years were able to benefit more than 45,500 individuals in the local communities in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray, and Afar regional states and funded by Japanese Embassy, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA), UNOCHA, World Vision, USAID/BHA, IRC, WHH, and CARE.

Under the development of water systems programs which were supported by Japan Embassy in Ethiopia, ANE exhibited outstanding performance in the Construction of 3 Springs Protections, Construction of 3 Hand Dug Wells, Construction of 2 Shallow Wells and Construction of 2 Rain Water Catchments. These all projects implemented between 2015 and 2017 budget years were able to benefit more than 6000 Households of the local communities residing in Bule-Hora Woreda Administration, Oromia Regional State.

Likewise, ANE in collaboration with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency(TiKA) successfully managed Rehabilitation of 2 Springs, 1 Hand Dug Well and 9 Shallow Wells benefiting more than 7000 local community households in Bule-Hora Woreda Administration, Oromia Regional State.

In 2021, ANE successfully conducted rehabilitation four shallow well water systems in four Kebeles of Sura Berguda Woreda Administration of West Guji Zone, Oromia. As funded by IOM-RRF, all the water supply schemes were rehabilitated with quality standard and disinfected in a way that protected from any external contamination. The rehabilitated water schemes are currently providing safe and clean water for more than 8412 individuals of representing both IDP and host communities.

In the same year, ANE collaborating with Woreda DRMO and Water Office rehabilitated one shallow well at Ulga dimtu kebele of Guchi woreda In addition to this, ANE also done 750m pipe line expansion with two water points at Guchi Megala kebele of Guchi woreda. This activity benefited 4,056 IDPs.

In the 2022 project year, ANE successfully conducted the rehabilitation/maintenance of three shallow wells with drainage works in Negea Umer Kule and Belinarba kebeles of Fedis Woreda, East Harergea Zone, Oromia Region. This project is funded by Duch Relief Alliance (DRA) in collaboration with IRC.

The rehabilitated water schemes are currently providing safe and clean water for more than 1500 individuals representing both IDP and host communities.
